When renting makes sense
- A new office or start-up that wants to keep cash free.
- A temporary need: a project site, an event, an election or exam period.
- Volume that is uncertain or likely to change.
- No one in-house to manage service and toner.
When buying makes sense
- Steady, predictable volume over several years.
- Cash or EMI available, and a preference for owning assets.
- A trusted local service provider for maintenance and toner.
- An old machine to trade in against the new one.
Questions to ask before you sign a rental
- What is included: service visits, parts, toner, drums? Paper is rarely included.
- Is there a monthly copy allowance, and what does each copy above it cost?
- What is the minimum term, and what happens if we end early?
- How quickly will a technician come if it breaks?
- What happens at the end: renew, upgrade or return?
