- What is a photocopier, and how does it work?A photocopier is a machine that makes paper copies of documents. A modern digital photocopier scans the original, writes the image onto a light-sensitive drum with a laser or LED, attracts toner powder to that image, transfers the toner to paper and fuses it in place with heat and pressure. Most office photocopiers today are multifunction devices that also print and scan.
- Photocopier vs printer: what is the difference?A printer prints from a computer or phone. A photocopier copies paper originals, and today's digital photocopiers also print and scan, so they are really heavy-duty multifunction printers. The practical difference is scale: photocopiers handle more pages a month, larger paper (usually A3), bigger paper trays and network scanning, at a lower cost per page but a higher purchase price.
- What is a multifunction printer (MFP)?A multifunction printer (MFP), also called an all-in-one or multifunction device (MFD), combines a printer, copier and scanner in one machine, and sometimes a fax. It ranges from a home ink tank all-in-one to an A3 office photocopier. Its benefit is one machine, one set of consumables and one point of service instead of three or four.
- A3 vs A4 printers: which do you need?A4 (210 × 297 mm) is the standard sheet for letters, invoices and most documents. A3 (297 × 420 mm) is exactly twice the size. You need an A3 printer or photocopier only if you print or copy drawings, spreadsheets, ledgers, posters, notices or booklets; an A3 machine also prints A4, but costs more and takes more space.
- What are an automatic document feeder and duplex printing? An automatic document feeder (ADF) pulls a stack of originals into a copier or scanner one sheet at a time, so you do not lift the lid for each page. Duplex printing means printing on both sides of the paper automatically. Duplex scanning reads both sides of each original, either by flipping it (RADF) or with two scan heads in a single pass (DADF).
- Which photocopier is best for a small business? The best photocopier for a small business is the smallest machine that comfortably handles your monthly volume and paper sizes. For a small office printing mostly A4 black text, an A4 mono multifunction machine is usually enough. If you copy A3, run several hundred pages a day, or share one machine across a team, choose an entry A3 mono multifunction photocopier, and add colour only if you print colour often.
- Which printer is best for a high-volume office? For a high-volume office, choose a laser-class multifunction device rated well above your monthly volume, with high-yield toner, large paper capacity, a document feeder, network scanning and a local service arrangement. For mostly black text that usually means an A3 or A4 mono MFD; business ink tank printers suit offices with moderate volume that need low-cost colour.
- Should you buy or rent a photocopier?Rent a photocopier if you want no upfront cost, a predictable monthly bill with service included, or a machine for a fixed period such as a project or exam season. Buy if your volume is steady, you plan to keep the machine for years, and you are comfortable arranging service and toner. Over a long period buying usually costs less in total; renting costs less up front and shifts the risk of breakdowns to the supplier.
- How much does a photocopier cost in Kerala?A photocopier's price depends mainly on paper format (A4 or A3), speed, mono or colour, and options such as a document feeder, extra paper trays, finishers and fax. An A4 mono multifunction machine costs the least, entry A3 mono copiers sit in the middle, and A3 colour machines cost the most. Because prices change with models and offers, ask for a written quote; and compare running costs, which over a machine's life often exceed the purchase price.
Ask for a quote or a service visit.
Call or message the Kacheripady showroom about a quote, a repair, a rental or a cartridge. Send a photo of the machine or the error if you have one.
